For many people, eating fewer calories isn’t as easy as eating fewer calories consistently. For example, let’s say that if you eat 2,200 calories a day, you will maintain your current weight. If you were to increase your calorie intake to 2,500 calories a day, you would gain an extra 300 calories.
When you’re in a surplus, your body has to do something with the extra calories, to store them.
