How Long Should I Walk A Day To Lose Weight

How Long Should I Walk A Day To Lose Weight – Before the coronavirus pandemic, I went to CrossFit from Monday to Friday and taught yoga every Sunday. I went from working six days a week to not wanting to work at all. Everything made me very tired and forcing myself to do the exercises at home felt forced. That, combined with making meals and snacks for my kids every day and having time to prepare elaborate vegan meals and desserts (hello baking stress!) every day, made me gain some weight. I know this is normal and I’m not upset about it – I just don’t feel like myself. My energy is low and I just feel dull and dull, not my usual energetic, strong and confident self. I set a goal to get back on track, to feel more like myself.

It’s been six weeks here of social distancing, kids finishing school and homeschooling while working from home – eek! Emotionally, it was really strong, so for the first two weeks I didn’t do much in the way of movement. At weeks three and four, I still don’t want to push myself to do burpees or push-ups, but I’m aiming to walk three miles a day, which is about 7,000 steps.

Two weeks ago, I felt more motivated to exercise at home. Exercising three or four times a week was what I thought he was ready for, and since walking was so fun, I decided to make it six miles a day. It’s something I know I can do every day because I have my old treadmill attached to my desk. In addition, I walk one or two times a day with my family.

Walking six miles, which is about 15,000 steps, takes me about two to three hours, depending on how I wash. A few days a couple of weeks ago I ran a few miles which reduced the time but mostly I just got the distance every day. When I wake up early for work, my goal is to get about 1.5-2 miles on the treadmill to my desk. I walked very slowly while writing so it took about an hour. Later that morning I went for a 30 minute walk with the kids, then worked out in the afternoon to get in a few more miles. If I haven’t hit six miles by dinner, I’ll go out with the family before bed to the neighborhood.

This little challenge with myself is motivation! I use the FitBit Versa 2 to track my distance and track my daily miles in the little push I need to stay active.

It actually felt really good to slow things down and get away from my big CrossFit training. I can only focus on breathing, enjoying the house of my family and waving to the neighbors (at least six meters away!). I rarely go out alone or with my dogs, and the solitude of listening to inspirational podcasts or having long conversations with friends is so nourishing for my soul. It doesn’t feel like work, but rather like a gift I can give myself. Some days I even feel like doing more than six miles!

It’s only been two weeks, but I’ve already lost a few pounds. But most importantly, I feel stronger, more empowered and more myself. I know that I tend to snack as a coping mechanism when I’m stressed, angry or anxious, and going out for a short walk makes me feel better than a handful of fruit or dark chocolate. Fresh air, moving my body, and deep breathing helped settle my feelings. Spending time with my kids on outdoor runs, showing signs of spring, and stumbling upon sweet surprises left outside by my neighbors makes me feel grateful and hopeful—this is my favorite part. walking

Setting this goal and sticking to it has strengthened me mentally as well. Instead of being upset that my life has changed, I appreciate the opportunity to slow down and focus on the important things in life. I am patient and kind with my children when they refuse to do their homework or are too loud for me to do my own work. Overall, I feel less stressed, more in control of my emotions, and happier.

Yes! I love my daily walks and appreciate all the rewards it has given me. The tendon and plantar fasciitis pain I’ve had for the past year is gone. I also feel calmer, sleep better and love the motivation this daily challenge brings to my life. I agree that it’s okay if you don’t feel like doing an intense, sweaty CrossFit workout at home. But instead of doing nothing and feeling that, I can always just walk away and feel like I’ve done something good for myself.

Walking is a simple thing I can do that keeps me mentally and physically healthy. Coming from a running background, I didn’t really appreciate that walking could be so valuable. But after reaping all the benefits of walking six miles a day for two weeks straight, I couldn’t help but be inspired to keep going.
