That Turbo Week is no joke. But the results are AMAZING! There were times when I wanted to throw in the towel and dive into a bag of french fries or fried chicken. But I didn’t. I stayed strong. And then I looked at how I ended up at those moments of feeling that I was going to go on a huge calorie feast and destroy my hard work. You know what? I noticed a trend. By my third near-breakup, I noticed that I only noticed when I wasn’t ready.
Preparation is key. At least it is for me. I’m busy, I’m out running around with Peyton at night and I work all day. Did I tell you that I work in a tax and accounting firm? And last week was the last full week of tax season. So yeah, I barely had time to use the potty let alone prepare my food. So it was a challenging week. But I made it through.

By my second day, I started picking up fresh vegetables on my break for the next day. I discovered that I really like cherry tomatoes because they are a vegetable and not starchy I would eat a container of those every day. Full 10.5 oz container! My next attempt was to roast vegetables the night before and use them for the next day. Roasted carrots are so delicious, even reheated. I went through a few bags of carrots.
Last week I spent my time trying new vegetables and seeing what worked. And I also kept changing it so I wouldn’t get bored.
Don’t forget to add spices to your vegetables! I own all kinds of Mrs. Dash and use them every day. It’s a great way to spice up food without adding unnecessary calories.
Lying in on Monday morning I was surprised. I followed my Turbo Week to a T and drank all my water so I knew I would lose some weight. But I never thought it would be 5 pounds! That’s right, I lost 5 pounds a week with the Turbo Start. I was excited!! I ate my 4 servings of vegetables a day, drank 64-80 oz of water a day and ate all my Nutrisystem meals and snacks. I took her suggestion this week to limit vigorous activities. I also made sure I ate every 2 hours or so, small meals. And it paid off.

I know these big steps won’t happen every week, but I’m so happy with the results of Turbo Start week. It gave me confidence and assurance that the plan will work if I work.
I have tried many diet programs over the years and nothing has worked. At one point I even invested in a personal trainer. Nada. With Nutrisystem I lose weight, feel happy and it’s easy! I don’t think I’ve ever had this happy diet. Because, when you think about it, it’s not really a “diet”. It’s a lifestyle change. They teach me how to eat healthy and in healthy portions. Welcome to my first Nutrisystem post! This is the start of my long 3 month journey with Nutrisystem and I can’t wait to get started. Monday 30 June 2014 is my first day with the programme.
I’m going to try and keep this week’s post as short, sweet and as long as I can since the accompanying video is quite long. I highly recommend you watch the whole video but since I go into detail about the program, my weight loss issues and expectations as well as my first LIVE weight and measurement. I will be very serious about this whole process and I hope it will be useful, informative and even inspiring!

What is Nutrisystem? Nutrisystem is a nutritional diet. They send you the foods you eat each month at the time. Along with the foods, you get a detailed guide and a personal advisor who is TONS of support. Always answered my emails and phone calls (even on a Friday night) within 10/15 minutes!!
What I expect from this program : I want to come out of this program obviously lighter but maybe with an understanding of ‘real’ food portions. I’m an “I can’t have ONE cookie” gal. I hope this program will help me break that mindset.
What are my goals: Well according to the guide for my first week, aptly called Fast Five, I expect to lose 5 pounds after my first week. After that I don’t really have a weekly weight loss goal but a decision to stay on track for the next 3 months. My ultimate goal for weight loss is to lose about 60 lbs ( Check out the motivational Pinterest album I started about a year ago ) but on a more reasonable note, I would love to lose a total of 30 lbs after do this 3 month cycle from Nutrisystem.
What are my concerns / disadvantages : I have the BIGGEST sweet tooth!! I think that might be my biggest adjustment to retirement. The foods offered as part of the program look amazing! Like chicken alfredo? heck yes!! And although I am offered dessert (I can have one a day after the first week ) I hope they are enough to satisfy my cravings!!

Another thing I’m really worried about is being about to separate what I eat and what I prepare for the rest of my family – I have two young children and a husband! Before I started the program what I did for meals was based on whatever I felt like doing or craving! Well, now that I’m not eating what the rest of them have, I’m afraid I won’t be inspired to make them delicious meals, ever since. I focus so much on what I eat now. That sounds very selfish! But this is one of my fears and I wanted to mention it.

After the first week I will be able to add 3 things a day called ‘extras’ including things like yogurt, fruit, nuts, protein etc… Veggies are always limitless,
