I’m so excited about today’s post, but also nervous. I love sharing fun anecdotes with you all, but I’m usually reluctant to share more personal details here. But today I’m breaking that barrier to write something I’m proud of.

It started a while ago, when I promised myself that I would get myself a new (and very nice) MacBook, and I’ve been eyeing it for a long time as I lost 15 pounds. Since then, I’ve been I’m eating and motivated more than ever to lose a few pounds.
It’s not easy. Over the past few months, I’ve made a lot of delicious desserts, including tons of cheesecake. I forced myself to drink and stop. Partly because I want to lose weight, but mostly because I already want to buy my new macbook. But whatever the reason, I persevered. I refused the cheesecake. I eat a lot of salad. I am here. I am writing my first post on my beautiful new macbook. But I realize, sitting here, that sense of accomplishment is the best reward.
But I learned a few things that helped me lose those 15 pounds. inspire any of you who are struggling to lose weight to cook delicious meals while losing weight and staying healthy!

Foods To Avoid To Lose Weight: What To Stop Eating And Why
1) Spiced Roasted Zucchini Sticks: This is one of the most popular recipes on my blog, and probably the most popular recipe from my readers. This might be my favorite recipe. It’s so easy to make (it takes about a minute or less than zucchini sticks) and the delicious flavor and spice mean you won’t realize how healthy they are! Zucchini is plentiful this summer, and I find myself turning to this recipe often.
2) Colorful squashes with shallots and herbs: So I admit that I have changed a lot since I posted this recipe (almost two years ago!), but the basic ingredients and method are the same. I love this recipe because it’s so easy and versatile, and I basically throw in whatever veggies I have on hand. My current favorites are zucchini, mushrooms and portabella mushrooms. It’s so delicious, and again, you won’t miss the extra calories!
3) Citrus Shallot Dressing: One of my go-to meals is a big low-protein salad for lunch. Each other. single. the sky. My favorite salad dressing is this amazing citrus and shallot dressing. It has just the right amount of sweetness and some sharpness from the shallots. I’ve made it a few times lately and somehow I’m never bored!
4) Roasted Butternut Squash Salad: I admit I don’t really follow the whole recipe, but roasted butternut squash (cut into small pieces) is my favorite salad. Very filling but still healthy!

5) Raspberry Zinger Vinaigrette: This is one of my favorite salad dressings that I make all the time. It’s really easy to do, but it’s completely different, so it’s great when you need a change of pace. I combine this dressing with lettuce (usually romaine, sometimes spinach) with some milk, red cabbage, some nuts… They are different!
6) Pickled Tri-Color Chili Salad: This is what I make every time I see chiles on sale at the grocery store. Very simple, but very tasty. (And a bonus – it’s so easy to make!) I recently made a few changes to the salad – to top it off, I substituted scallions for scallions. I love the extra flavor it gives!
7) Healthy Mock Breaded Cauliflower: I can’t even tell you how much I love this recipe. It makes me feel like I’m eating very greasy, sweet fast food or restaurant food, but it’s healthier than it tastes! Here’s another recipe that takes less than five minutes to make, so you can imagine why it’s my favorite, and the favorite of hundreds of readers.
8) Roasted Chickpea Salad: This might be my new favorite lunch recipe. once. It’s quick and easy to make, but filling! Serve with brown rice for a hearty meal. I made it with vegetables and it was delicious!

9) Frozen Drinks: Iced Mochaccino and Strawberry Lime Smoothie: Everyone needs a snack now and then, and these are two of my favorites. They are frozen, refreshing, and appear to have more calories than they actually are.
10) Grilled Chicken: I make a lot of different types of rotisserie chicken, but two of my favorites are my Asian-inspired Mustard Marinated Chicken and this easy and delicious Herb-Marinated Grilled Chicken . Both are easy and delicious, and of course, great for grilling this summer!
11) Roasted Green Beans with Shallots and Tomatoes: Have you noticed a pattern with the veggie roast recipes here? Well, I may be the queen of quick and easy roasted vegetable recipes, and this is one of my recent favorites.
